Nine Turns

A NON-MOVING, RECLINING FORM OF SHENG ZHEN MEDITATION

Nine Turns is a non-moving, reclining form of Sheng Zhen Meditation.

Nine Turns is a non-moving, reclining form of Sheng Zhen Meditation.

Nine Turns Meditation is a non-moving meditation, typically practiced lying down, involving using the mind to circulate energy (qi) along a specified pathway. At times, the practitioner also moves the tongue inside the mouth.

Since the practice uses no physical effort, it can be done by those who are physically impaired. The practice strengthens both the body and mind and also has spiritual benefits. It uses the qi in the body to arrive at enlightened consciousness, ultimately opening the dedicated practitioner to deep mysteries of life.

If one has insomnia, practicing while in bed can help balance one’s energy and quiet the mind, facilitating restful sleep.

Excerpt from the contemplation for Nine Turns:

Bring your heart and mind to a point of stillness
Do everything with sincerity
Quiet your heart, cultivate yourself
Become a buddha.
